James Edward “Jim” Griffin, 75, of Clovis, died Monday, June 27, 2005, at his home.
He was born on July 22, 1929, in Stamford, Texas, to Noah Anderson and Amanda Corrine Jones.
He was baptized in the First Christian Church and graduated in 1947 from Breckenridge High School in Breckenridge, Texas. He married Virginia Louise Brooks on July 24, 1948, in Breckenridge. He moved to Clovis in 1960 as a circulation manager and later became publisher for the Clovis News Journal. He retired after 30 years in 1990. He later worked for Bo Clark Trucking. He married Faunette Longley in August of 1980 in Santa Rosa. Family members said he loved to travel and go fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Brooks Griffin of Plano, Texas; two daughters, Mary Afsharirad of Allen, Texas, and Raynette Barker (and husband, Dr. Keith) of Clovis; and six grandchildren, David and Mina Afsharirad, both of Allen, Texas, Lindsay, Meagan, and Zachary Griffin, all of Plano, Texas, and Kristen Hardy (Eric) of Amarillo.
The Rev. Dean Turvaville will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis.
Pallbearers are Bryan Guthals, Lance and Jay Longley, Allen Cupp, Lee and Jim Malloy, and Brad Johnson.
Honorary pallbearers are David Afsharirad and Zachary Griffin.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Elks National Foundation in care of Clovis/Portales Elks Lodge No. 1244, P.O. Box 191, Clovis, NM 88102.
