Jack Wade Slaughter, 74, of Clovis, died Friday, April 29, 2005, at his home.

He was born on June 26, 1930, in Clovis, the Rev. M.E. and Cordia Nancy Davidson Slaughter.

He married Jean Jaquess on May 27, 1947, in Clovis. He was a member of VFW Post 3015 for more than 50 years, and past commander for three terms. He served in the Army and fought in World War II and the Korean Conflict.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; three daughters, Barbara Slaughter, Betty Woodall, and Nita Gay Stelzig; a granddaughter, Cheryl Graham; two sisters Ruby Mae Boatman and Lucille Felty; and three brothers, L.E., Robert and Leroy Slaughter.

Survivors include his children, Billy Slaughter, Joann Garcia and Matthew Wade Woodall Sr., all of the home; a brother, J.D. Slaughter of Clovis; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis.
