Mr. Donald W. Leatherwood, 69, of Farwell, died Wednesday, May 4, 2005, at Farwell Convalescent Center.
He was born April 17, 1935, in Lindsey, Okla., to John and Addie Fox Leatherwood.
He married Jean Burchett on June 21, 1953, in Ranchvale. He was a Clovis resident and went to school in House and Ranchvale. He worked for phone companies for more than 30 years. He was a member of Ranchvale Baptist Church.
Family members said he loved training horses and roping.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Terry Leatherwood (and wife, Lanell) of Grady, and Dusty Leatherwood (Carroll) and Mike Leatherwood (Kathy), all of Clovis; a daughter, Kandi Davidson (Rick) of Hobbs; a niece, Diane Thompson (Mike) of Hobbs; two nephews, Limey Riley (Diana) of Carlsbad and Danny Riley (Jan) of Clovis; a brother, Howard Leatherwood (Debbie) of Fort Worth, Texas; two sisters, Dorothy Dunlap (Jack) of Abilene, Texas, and Rita Akers (Louis) of Texas; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; five great-nephews; and a great-niece.
The family will be at Mike Leatherwood’s home at 924 CR 15.
The Rev. Rody Chesser will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Melrose Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Doug Cook, Craig Chumbley, Carl Hahn, Donnie Helmer, Duane Ridley and Wayne Dendy.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Baptist Children’s Home.
