Jose Guadalupe “Grampy” Salas, 77, of Clovis, died Saturday, April 23, 2005, at his home.
He was born on Nov. 15, 1927, in Anton Chico, to Isidoro and Antonia Aragon Salas.
He married Alice Sena on June 12, 1951, in Clovis. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a machinist helper for the AT&SF Railroad for 10 years, a city of Clovis truck driver for 28 years, and a foster parent for 10 years. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe, D.A.V., American Legion No. 25, and La Casa Senior Citizens Center where he helped with cooking.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Cecilia Galban, Agneda Amaro, Pabilita Aragon, and Santana Medina; and a brother, Demetrio Salas.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Richard Salas (and wife, Mabel) of Clovis; a daughter, Patricia Mondragon (Steve) of Clovis; two grandchildren, Nick Mondragon and Stephanie Blumer (Randy), all of Clovis; and a great-grandchild, Taylor Blumer of Clovis.
Rosary is scheduled for 7 p.m. today at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Clovis.
Father Sotero Sena will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Mission Garden of Memories in Clovis.
Pallbearers are Alfred Medina, Lolo Salas, Juanito and Pete Amaro, Arthur Sena Jr., and Paul Aragon.
Honorary pallbearers are his nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to the La Casa Family Senior Center, 1120 Cameo, Clovis 88101.
