Dollie Opal Elfers, 94, of Clovis died Friday, April 8, 2005, at the Retirement Ranch.
She was born on July 12, 1910, in Stith, Texas, to John Henry and Annie Lizza Stewart Berry. She married Alva Ford Elfers on Oct. 12, 1942.
Family members said the greatest joys in her life were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband (Dec. 25, 1957); and all of her 17 siblings.
Survivors include three daughters, Joyce Gates (and husband, Bill) of Clovis, Elaine Ashton (John) of Albuquerque and Donileta Hammons (Bill) of Laguna Park, Texas; a stepson, Jimmy Elfers (Jean) of Slidell, La.; five grandchildren, B.J. Gates (fiancée, Adrennia Cooper) of Farmington, Lisa Gates Ellis (Nigel) of Pleasant Hill, Calif., Tyler Ashton (fiancée, Jamie Fifer) of Albuquerque, Shane Drake (Lisa) of Queens Creek, Ariz., and Billy Skidmore (Regina) of The Colony, Texas; two step-grandchildren, Craig Elfers of Slidell, La., and Bryan Elfers of California; three great-grandchildren, Cassyn Skidmore of The Colony, Texas, Ashton Drake of Queens Creek, Ariz., and Katie Jane Ellis of Pleasant Hill, Calif.
Pallbearers are her grandsons, B.J. Gates, Shane Drake, Tyler Ashton, Billy Skidmore and Nigel Ellis.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Baptist Children’s Home in Portales, the Diabetes Society or the American Cancer Society.
