Curry/Arthur
Mr. and Mrs. Benton Curry of Clovis announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Jamie Dianne Curry of Clovis to Thomas Cort Arthur of Colorado City, Texas, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Arthur of Colorado City, Texas.
The couple will exchange vows May 28, 2005 at the First Church of the Nazarene in Clovis.
The reception will be at Fox Run in Clovis. Invitations have already been sent.
The bride-elect is a 2005 graduate of McMurry University in Abiline.
The prospective groom is a 2005 graduate of McMurry University in Abiline. They both majored in Communications.

Conley/Hodges
Lucille Conley and the late Mark Conley of Clovis announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Joey LaRue Conley of Clovis to Walter Scot Hodges, of Lubbock, Texas, son of Dean and Tonya Hodges of Tucumcari.
The couple will exchange vows 5 p.m.. June 4, 2005, at The Chapel in Clovis.
The reception will be at the Chaparral County club.
The bride-elect is a 1999 graduate of Clovis Community College.
She is employed at Plains Regional Medical Center.
The prospective groom is a 2000 graduate of Covenant School of Radiology.He is employed at Lubbock Diagnostic Radiology Clinic.

The bride-elect is a 2002 graduate of Clovis High School.

The prospective groom is a 2004 graduate of Eastern New Mexico University.

Albert and Betty Sciumbato of Herford, Texas, announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Sammi Sciumbato of Amarillo, Texas, to Shane Romero, of Amarillo, Texas, son of Patsy and Anselmo Serrano of Herford, Texas and the late Steve Romero of Clovis.
The couple will exchange vows 3 p.m. June 11, 2005, at St. Anthony’s Church in Hereford, Texas.

George and Deborah Borden of Clovis announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Kristen Borden of Las Cruces to Parquer Chastine, of Las Cruces, son of Alan and Tammy Chastine of Las Cruces.
The couple will exchange vows, at 6:30 p.m. July 23, 2005 at 1st Baptist Church in Las Cruces.
The reception will be at New Mexico Farm & Ranch Heritage Center.

She is employed at First Baptist Church in Las Cruces.
The prospective groom is pursing a business management degree at New Mexico State University.
He is employed at NASA White Sands testing facility.

WEDDINGS

Barger/Pelley
Sarah Barger and Ty Pelley both of Waco, Texas, were joined in marriage March 7, 2005.
The bride is the daughter of Brian and Delinda Ashburn of Clovis. She is the granddaughter of Travis and Jennifer Barger of Columbia, SC, Pat and Larry Ford of Madison Kan., and Don and Betty Barger of Madison, Kan. The bride is attending Baylor Law School.
The bridegroom is the son of David and Pearl Pelley of Santa Fe. He is employed for the City of Waco where they will reside.

Roach/Payne
Tesha L. Roach of Portales and Rondall (Tony) Payne of Portales were joined in marriage March 19, 2005 at Community of Christ Church in Clovis.
The Rev. Glenn Livingston performed the ceremony.
The bride is the granddaughter of Gene and Charlene Phillips of Clovis.
The bridegroom is the son of the late Joyce Payne of Portales and the brother of Ronda Debeaux, Susan Evans and Randy Payne, all of Texas.
Maid of honor was Chelsea Phillips and bridesmaids were Kayla Roach and Krista Roach.
Best man was Randy Payne and groomsman was Jeremy Payne. Ushers were Tyler Evans and Seth Payne.
The couple will reside in Portales.
The bride is employed at Plains Regional Medical Center.
The groom is employed at Novellus Systems, Inc.

CLUB NOTES

Encanto Garden Club
Encanto Garden Club met recently in the home of Thelma Curtis. Parks and recreation director Rob Carte gave an overview of the work his department is doing in this area, along with suggestions for beautification projects in those locations. He told about a new tree named Polamia, which is a union of two trees. It is being raised in Roswell, has a 30 year life span and hopefully take the place of our dying elm trees.
Betty Dunlap, president, conducted the business meeting and shared a list of plants mentioned in the Bible and basic rules for achieving a beautiful landscape. Those attending were Thelma Curtis, Jacque Wuest, Charlotte Corder, Coral Shittaker, Elsie Dean, Nell Hodges, Betty Dunlap, Barara Voges and Bess Kline. Several members shared their home remedies for weed control and also offered to share plants from their gardens.
A note of appreciation from the family of deceased member, Lela Ward was read. The May meeting will be held in the home of Elsie Dean and will feature a silent auction of miscellaneous items, as plants, white elephants, books, and of home made foods.

Friendship Rebekah Lodge
The Friendship Rebekah Lodge met April 12 at IOOF Hall, 405 Main Street, and was hosted by Serena Goar and Allene Luther. Final plans were made for the mid-term Grand Lodge and Rebekah assembly to be held in Deming on April 16. Allene Luther will represent the lodge with Serene Goar as alternate.
The lodge voted to meet at 2 p.m. unless special occasions occur. The next meeting will celebrate the 186th anniversary of Oddfellowship with Vicky Howard and Mary Dorris presenting a history of the order. Serena Goar and Allene Luther served strawberry short cake after the meeting. The next meeting will be at 2 p.m. April 26 and hosted by Vicky Howard and Mary Dorris.

Clovis Meals on Wheels is driving to recruit new volunteers, said president Ginny Barboza . Anyone interested can call 769-7535 between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. or leave a message anytime.
