Mrs. “Netta” Tivis, 79, of Clovis, died Thursday, April 7, 2005, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.
She was born on Dec. 9, 1925, in Anadarko, Okla., to Willie and Roscoe B. Kent.
She first came to New Mexico as a small child when her parents settled in the Bethel community. She lived there until 1990. She married C.F. Tivis on Dec. 24, 1943, in Bethel. In 1981 she married Roy Wall. In 1990 she moved to Portales and in 2002 she moved to Clovis. She was a member of the Faith Christian Family Church in Clovis. She was an Avon representative for 44 years.
Family members said she enjoyed playing games, especially cards and bingo, quilting, sewing and crocheting. She was a foster grandmother in the schools, first in Portales at Valencia and more recently in Clovis at Barry and Cameo elementary schools.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Troy Kent; an infant son, Richard C. Tivis; and by both of her husbands.
Survivors include a son, Wayne Tivis (and wife, Donna) of Dora; two daughters, Hazel (Cole) Guinn (Bill) of Clovis and Bernice Gainey (Tom) of Las Vegas, Nev.; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Wanda Stice of Crowley, Texas, and Arvilla Carley of Lubbock.
A family lunch will be served at noon Monday at Victory Life Church in Portales.
The Rev. Walter Huber will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Floyd Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Dean Kadell, Duane Lee, Bill Roberts, Wendell Best, Jimmy Tivis and Terry Swann.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
