Maggie Lou “Chick” Priest, 88, of Clovis, died Tuesday, April 5, 2005, at All Care Assisted Living in Clovis.
She was born on Dec. 15, 1916, in Tom, Okla., to Jo and Artie Hutchinson.
She came to New Mexico in 1928, as a child with her family. She has been a resident of Curry County since 1941. She worked at local school cafeterias and co-owned W&J Auction for 20 years. She was a member of Parkland Baptist Church and the Fairfield Extension Club.
Family members said she was a loving mother and grandmother.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, W.A. Priest Sr.; great-grandson Jonathan Priest; her parents; two brothers, Bob and Sam Hutchinson; and three sisters, Pete Brooks, Anna Mae Gilliland and Beulah Reeves.
Suvivors include two sons, James Priest (and wife, Jerry), and Butch Priest (Kathy), all of Clovis; four daughters, Jo of the home, Helen Kelley (Allen), Peggy Burns (Michael), all of Clovis, and Mary Lou Jesko (Tom) of Oklahoma City; 14 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren; two sister-in-laws, Dorothy Hutchinson of Arizona, and Lois Willis of Washington; a brother-in-law, Gene Sheppard of Los Lunas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The Rev. Lewis Johnson and pastor Doug Brooks will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are be all grandchildren: Gid, Layton and Tony Priest, Michelle Foster, Zandy Bunch, LaShauna Kelley, Wayne and Yankee Jesko, Calloway and Ronnie Jack Clark, Joby and Sumer Priest, and Kevin and Ricky Burns.
Honorary pallbearers are all great-grandchildren.
