Jessie “Ralph” Burnett. 82, of Peoria, Ariz., died Sunday, April 3, 2005, at his home.
He was born on May 17, 1922, in North Curry County, near Rosedale, to John and Ella Simpson Burnett.
He married Virginia A. Mitchell on June 21, 1941 in Clovis. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a farmer and rancher in the Broadview community. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Grady. Family members said he loved playing 42 in the Rosedale 42 Club and watching basketball.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; and a brother, Virgil Burnett.
Survivors include a son, J.R. Burnett (and wife, Vickie) of Peoria, Ariz.; a sister, Shirley Combs of Greenforest, Ark.; three grandchildren, Jeff Burnett (Belinda) of Lubbock, Jared Burnett (Heather) of Peoria, Ariz., Jesse Burnett (Amber) of Farmington; four great-grandchildren Jayton, Jaxon, Canaan and Cooper Burnett.
The Rev. Stormy Swann will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Grady Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Jeff, Jared, and Jesse Burnett, C.J. Blackburn, Doug Mote, Stanley Fury, and Aaron Ketterling.
