Williams picks up pair of seconds

AMARILLO — Hard work is paying off for Clovis’ Phillip Williams.

The senior followed up a second-place finish Friday in the long jump by finishing second in the 100 meters Saturday at the Amarillo Relays.

“He had a great, great weekend,” Clovis coach Darren Kelley said. “He’s definitely working at it and he wants to be successful.

Team standings and official times were unavailable at press time.

Clovis’ Jacob Jones took second in the 200 meters and fellow senior Damien Robinson placed fourth in the 110-meter hurdles.

The Wildcats 800 relay team placed sixth.
