Two games, two easy wins.

The Clovis baseball team advanced to the championship game of the season-opening Clovis Invitational on Friday with a 15-0 win over Santa Fe at Bell Park.

The Wildcats opened the season with a 16-0 win over Fabens, Texas, in the first round game.

Clovis sophomore Jonathan Sisneros went five innings and allowed only four hits while getting the Demons to hit balls on the ground to awaiting infielders.

“For his first varsity start, he pitched really well,” Clovis coach Shane Shallenberger said.

For Clovis, Junior Matt Ulibarri went 4-for-4 with two triples and three RBIs. Cat senior Jared Montoya went 3-for-4, driving in two while junior Sean Cruce and sophomore Cade Wheeler each had two hits and two RBIs.

The Wildcats take on Rio Rancho in the 5 p.m. championship game on Saturday. The Rams thumped Del Valle 9-1 in the other semifinal.

In other games, Fabens topped Hereford 9-4 while Levelland had a football score-like 20-7 win over Palo Duro.
