Mr. Mario Urioste, 51, of Clovis, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2005, at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque.
He was born on Jan. 3, 1954, in Clovis, to Severo and Victoriana Urioste. He was one of 12 children. He married Irene Gonzales on July 14, 1973, in Clovis. He graduated from Clovis High and attended Technical Vocational Institute in Albuquerque and Clovis Community College. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church of Clovis. He served on the Clovis School Board for 13 years and four years as District 63 state representative. While in the Legislature, he served on the Education Committee, Committee of Transportation, Business and Industry, as well as numerous other committees. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and Eagles Post 3245.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Sarah Garcia; and a brother, Juan D. Urioste.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Mauricio of Clovis and Julian of Nashville, Tenn.; a brother, Mike Urioste (and wife, Patsy); four sisters, Cecilia Nelson (Victor) of Palo Alto, Calif., Helen Montes (Rudy) of El Monte, Calif., Mary Chavez (Abelino) and Bobbie Madrid (Luciano), all of Clovis; numerous nieces and nephews; his adopted family, the Bonneys; and two nephews, Jose Urioste and Timothy Gonzales.
Father Daniel Balizan, assisted by Father Sotero Sena, will officiate the services.
Rosary services will be at 7 p.m. today at Our Lady of Guadalupe.
Burial will be at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis.
Pallbearers are Vincent (Smiley) Gallegos, Rep. Jose Campos, Rep. George Hanosh, Rep. Richard Vigil, Judge David W. Bonem, Judge Stephen K. Quinn, Isidro Garcia and Dickie Garcia.
Honorary pallbearers are Phillip Ulibarri, members of the Mas Alegria Band and friends and family.
