The Secretary of State’s office on Friday officially declared Clint Harden, R-Clovis, the winner of the District 7 Senate seat.
The incumbent Harden defeated Democratic challenger Bob Frost of San Jon by 36 votes, following a recount of paper ballots in Taos, Union and Colfax counties.
Harden’s win means the Senate will continue to have 24 Democrats and 18 Republicans.
In the House, Democrats lost one member — Rep. Pauline Ponce, D-Roswell, was defeated — and will have a 42-28 edge over Republicans.
The Harden-Frost race was the closest legislative contest this year.
