Don Ackley, 73, of Clovis, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.
He was born on Aug. 12, 1931, in Lawrence, Kan., to Clarence D. and Opal Benjamin Ackley.
He married Mitsue Takada on July 20, 1956 in Tokyo, Japan. He was a housing inspector for civil services retiring in 1991. He was a member of National Rifle Association, was of the Buddhist Faith, and loved to hunt and fish.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Gertrude; and two sons, Cecil Thomas and James Dean Ackley.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Joan Ackley (Pheng Phathaphone) of Milwaukee, Wis.; a son, Thomas Ackley (and wife, Mary) of Clovis; five grandchildren, Malaysone Ackley, Phengsavanh and Phouvanh Phathaphone, and Keavin and Kyle Ackley; a great-grandchild, Ayanna Manikham; three sisters, Pat Ackley, Carol Arie, and Linda Creekkiller, all of Parsons, Kan.; and two brothers, Robert and James Ackley, both of Parsons.
The Rev. Dean Turvaville will officiate the services.
Military honors are by Cannon Air Force Base Honor Guard.
Burial will be at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
