Mary McLaughlin Echols, 94, of Clovis, died Monday, Oct. 18, 2004, at her home.
She was born on Aug. 2, 1910, in Clovis, to Frederick Christopher and Betha Guy McLaughlin.
She married Coy Preston Echols on June 3, 1934, in Clovis. She was a bookkeeper for the Clovis News Journal and a homemaker, former member of Eastern Star, charter member of Business and Professional Women, charter member of West Minister Guild of Presbyterian Church, charter member of Women’s Society First United Methodist Church and a member of Chapter AB – P.E.O. Family members said she played basketball, golf, and baseball.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and a brother, Fred Guy McLaughlin.
Survivors include two sons, Gene Echols of Clovis and Bill Echols of Castle Rock, Colo.; five grandchildren, Carol Echols-Kienle and Leah Echols, both of Lubbock, Brian Echols of Clovis, Kelly Baker of Highland Ranch, Colo., and Lance Echols of Santa Fe; five great-grandchildren, Bryce and Breann Baker, Kathleen and Evan Kienle and Evan Echols; and a niece, Kay Baker (and husband, Tim).
Bishop W. Charles Green will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Mission Garden of Memories in Clovis.
Pallbearers are Odis Echols Jr., Richard McKinney, C.J. Blackburn, Lance and Brian Echols, and Gene Brian.
Randy McDaniel is honorary pallbearer.
