Charles Augusta “Gus” Williams Jr., 44, formerly of Clovis, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 2004, in Tacoma, Wash.
He was born on May 5, 1960, in Clovis, to Augusta and Marie Williams.
Family members said he was a well-known athlete and was liked by everyone. They also said he participated in many sports including softball, football, basketball and track at Clovis High School, where he still holds a record.
He was preceded in death by both parents; a sister, Doris June Rowson; a cousin, Ronald Banks Jr.; an aunt, Odessa Spencer; and an uncle, Buddy King.
Survivors include his wife, Amy, of Tacoma; two sons, Scott Brandon Mitchell of Mesquite, Nev., and Milo Williams of California; two daughters, Sara Kimberly Mitchell of Hobbs and Melissa Chris Williams of Clovis; three brothers, Ronnie Williams (and wife, Diane) of Washington, Dennis Earl Williams (Louise) of Long Beach, Calif., and Jerry Lee Williams of Colorado; five sisters, Lois King of Odessa, Texas, Kathy Banks of Phoenix, Elaine Mitchell (Milton) and Lynn Williams, both of Clovis, and Pam Shanks (Mike) of Stuttgart, Germany; and an uncle, Willie Spencer of Clovis.
Arrangements are by Firlane Memorial Park Funeral Home and Chapel of Spanaway, Wash.
