Clovis coach Darrel Ray said the Lady Wildcats’ string of three-straight championship games in the Clovis Invitational volleyball tournament is in serious jeopardy this weekend.
The tournament, which features three defending state champions in Rio Rancho, Portales and St. Pius, starts today with pool play.
Class 1A runnerup Fort Sumner is also in the 16-team tournament that concludes Saturday night.
“We might be hard-pressed to get out of pool play,” Ray said. “I’m not sure anybody can challenge St. Pius. They’re just huge.”
Clovis is the defending champion.
