George Olin Teel, 87, of Hope, died Tuesday, July 6, 2004, in Artesia.
He was born on Nov. 21, 1916, in Hope, to George Samuel and Elna Stem Teel.
He married Madie F. Reeves on Feb. 12, 1941, in Elk. He was a rancher and member of Hope United Methodist Church. He served on the Hope and Artesia School Boards, the New Mexico State Board of Education and the Board of
Trustees for Central Valley Electric.
He was preceded in death by his parents; by a son, Barry Reeves Teel; a sister, Inez Crockett; and a brother, Le Roy Teel.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Karen Allen (and husband, John) of Las Cruces and Elnabeth Grau (Wesley) of Grady; a sister, Kay Hart of Artesia; six grandchildren Jana Allen, Jason Allen (Jessica), Justin Allen, Marcus Grau (Mandy), Meghan Grau and Micah Black (Eric); six great-grandchildren Mason, Miles and Merit Grau, Daniel Ojinaga, and Cera and Mikayla Allen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The Rev. David Brunson and the Rev. Jean Riley will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Woodbine Cemetery in Artesia.
Pallbearers are Bill Fletcher, Dolph Jones, Bee Smith, Warren Nell, Mike Casabonne and Johnny Shuman.
Honorary pallbearers are nephews Randy, Ritchie and Kelly Hart, Vernon Crockett, Jim and Ernest Ray Harwell, Dub Cox, Larry and Lonnie Hendricks, Austin Yearwood and Bobby and Richard Ledlow.
Visitation is scheduled at 10 a.m. today at Terpening and Son Mortuary in Artesia.
