Ventura “Vic” Gonzalez, 65, of Clovis, died Thursday, July 8, 2004, at University Medical Center in Lubbock.
He was born on Aug. 15, 1938, in Clearwater, Calif., to
Manuel and Manuela Armenta Gonzalez.
He married Yuriko Iwasaki on Nov. 10, 1960, in Sapporo, Japan. He retired from being a military weapon specialist and dietician at Cannon Air Force Base in 1978 after 21 years of service. He then worked for Clovis’ public schools in maintenance. He was a member of the American Legion No. 25 and VFW No. 3280.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; and a son, Samuel Gonzalez.
Survivors include a daughter, Debra Chavez of Clovis; a sister, Emily Gonzalez of Norwalk, Calif.; four brothers, Sal Gonzalez (and wife Norma) of Seal Beach, Calif., David Gonzalez (Betty) of Heber, Utah, Manuel Gonzalez (Vicki) of Lancaster, Calif., and Samuel Gonzalez (Sandy) of Artesia, Calif.; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The Rev. Dean Turvaville will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Mission Garden of Memories in Clovis.
Full military honors will be performed by the honor guard at Cannon Air Force Base.
