Chavez makes cut in Florida golf event

ORLANDO, Fla. — Clovis High senior Guillermo Chavez shot a four-over 76 Wednesday and just made the cut after two rounds of the American Junior Golf Association’s 72-hole HP Boys Junior Championship golf tournament at Arnold Palmer’s Bay Hill Country Club & Lodge.

Chavez, who shot a 78 on Tuesday, finished the day in a five-way tie for 48th place, with the top 50 of 81 golfers (plus ties) moving on to the final two rounds today and Friday.

Samuel Saunders of Windermere, Fla., Palmer’s grandson, shot a 73 on Wednesday and maintained a one-shot lead over five others at two-under 142.
