Bertha Joan Hernandez Richardson, 50, of formerly of Fort Sumner, died Wednesday, June 23, 2004, in Seattle.
She was born on Dec. 21, 1953, in Fort Sumner, to Carlos and Pauline Hernandez.
She was raised in San Mateo, Calif. She graduated from Hillsdale High School in San Mateo in 1972. She attended college for a short while. Family members said she enjoyed music and dancing, working with arts and crafts, was an excellent cook and loved animals. At age 5 she was dancing ballet and tap, and had the opportunity to perform in local theatre plays.
Survivors include her husband, John Richardson of Leeds, England; a son, Donald Dill of Seattle; a daughter, Crystal Dill of Seattle; her parents of Fort Sumner; a brother, Paul Hernandez (and wife, Debbie) from Redwood City, Calif; two sisters, Diana Rogers and Patty Hernandez, both of San Jose, Calif; four nephews Michael and Marc Rogers, Stephen and David Hernandez; a niece, Nichole Hernandez; three aunts, Lupe Sena of Fort Sumner, Mary Lynott (Frank) of Clearlake, Calif. and Laura Vasquez of Redwood City, Calif.; three uncles, Sotero Hernandez (Cora) of Roswell, Robert Hernandez (Maria) of San Diego and McGuinn Sandoval (Annie) of Roswell; and many other family members.
Father Richard Olona will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Fort Sumner Cemetery.
Arrangements are by Chavez Funeral Home of Fort Sumner.
