Mrs. Emogene L. Conover, 79, of Clovis, died Friday, June 11, 2004, at Retirement Ranch in Clovis.
She was born on Aug. 31, 1924, in Dade County, Mo., to Ora Lee and Stella Potts Hamby.
The family moved to Clovis in 1926 for her father’s health and she remained in Clovis the rest of her life. She graduated from high school in 1924 and worked for the Clovis Printing Plant from 1942 to 1943. In 1944 she went to work as assistant manger of the Clovis Chmber of Commerce. She married C. L. “Connie” Conover in December of 1944 in Tucumcari. She then worked with him in their coin-operated music and game business until 1970. She then went to wrok at the Clovis National Bank and continued working there throughout many ownerships and name changes, until her retirement as assistant cashier in 1987. She was a member of Central Christian church. She enjoyed office work, waiting on people and the banking business.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1985; her parents; two brothers; and two sisters.
She is survived by two sisters, Jean Bankston of Stockton, Calif., and Dorothy Bell of Tucumcari; four nieces, Margaret Ann Robinson, LaDonna Drake, Lynda Bell Farmer and Carol Sears; and six nephews, Gary Hamby, Ronald Hamby, William Henry Minter, Lary Niskern, Jerry Dale Bell Sr. and Calvin Bell.
Cremation has taken place.
Minister Larry Tedrow will officiate the services.
