Gid Montague, 93, of Tulia, Texas, died Monday, May 17, 2004, in Swisher Memorial Hospital in Tulia, Texas.
He was born on Oct. 8, 1910, in Silverton, Texas.
He married Edna Middleton on April 9, 1929. They moved to Portales in 1932, where he farmed and had a dairy there for over 50 years. He retired and moved to Tulia in the 1980’s. He was a Methodist.
He was preceded in death by his wife; two daughters, Marcia Swan and Evelyn Montague; four brothers, Eddie Frank, Grant Thomas, S.W. Jr. and Fred Kelly Montague; four sisters, Monty Ann Montague, Gertie Moore, Mozell Carter and Peggie Parkey.
Survivors include a granddaughter, Michele Wright of Stephenville, Texas; three great-grandchildren, Shawnee, Tyler and Shyann Wright; a great-great grandchild, Kelton Wright; a brother, Clyde Montague of Clovis; and two sisters, Opal Grimes of Morton, Texas and Mayrene Betts of Portales.
Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday at Wheeler Mortuary in Portales.
The Rev. Farrell Odom will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Portales Cemetery.
