Mrs. LaVerne C. Blakley, 84, of Clovis, a housewife, died Monday, June 14, 2004, at Granbury Care Center in Granbury, Texas.
She was born on Feb. 20, 1920, in Hamilton, Texas, to William and Nettie Bankston Hale.
She married J.W. Blakley on Feb. 15, 1941, in Hamilton. Family members said she loved their home, working in the yard, traveling, was an avid football fan and loved eating at the senior meal site. She was a member of Eastside Church of Christ in Clovis.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Wayne Blakley; a sister, Evelyn Dooley; and five brothers, Noble, Grand, Grady, Odell and Jack Hale.
Survivors include two sisters, Mickey Stroud and Joyce Broyles; and a nephew, Larry Broyles.
Van McCormick will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Sunset Terrace Memorial Cemetery in Farwell.
Pallbearers are Eddie McCormick, Don Roberts, Chris Williams, Jerry Ives, Brian Cash, Steve Shirley, Tommy Cash and Tom Roesch.
Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis.
