Clifford Lee Sumners, 72, of Nocona, Texas, died Saturday, April 10, 2004, in Nocona.
He was born on June 19, 1931, in Aurora, Mo., to Wilmer and Gertrude Forrester Sumners.
He lived in Clovis for 45 years before retiring in Nocona Hills, Texas, in 1998. He worked for Art’s Amusement Company in Clovis for many years before opening the Hat Barn on Prince Street. He served in the National Guard and then the Navy during the Korean War. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 3280 in Clovis.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Eula Faye Sumners of Nocona; a brother-in-law, Charlie Dobbs (and wife, Doris) of Floyd; cousins, Stella Mae and Kenny Aladeen of St. Joseph, Mo., Gloria Dean, Gordon Turner and Ronnie and Cheryl Franklin, all of Carthage, Mo.: five nieces, Kathy and Dana Southern, Mary Ella Caviness, Kelly Lunsford and Tracy Romero; and three nephews, Pat, Robert and Charles Crossley.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Nocona Hills Golf Association, in care of Jerry Jackson, 6 Oaks Court, Nocona, TX 76255.
