Louise “Lou” Townsend, 80, of Clovis, died Tuesday, April 6, 2004, in Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis.
She was born on July 23, 1923, in Maysville, Okla., to James and Vera Kelley Adcox.
She founded Johnnies Drive-Inn in 1943 and ran the business with her husband until 1970. After the drive-inn closed she worked as an insurance agent. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Family members said she loved to play golf and fish.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie W. Townsend; her parents; two brothers, L.D. Adcox and Gordon Adcox; and a sister, Estelle Fryar.
Survivors include two sons, Tommy Townsend (and wife, Gloria) of Clovis and Chuck Townsend (Gail) of Albuquerque; five grandchildren, John, Stacey, Louann and Tonya Townsend and Tracey Jacks; three great-grandchildren, Andres Townsend and Samantha and LeeAnn Jacks.
The Rev. Lance Clemmons will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Farwell Convalescent Center, 305 5th St., Farwell, TX 79325.
