Hobbs takes district tennis duals from Clovis

CNJ STAFF

Hobbs won three three-set matches to turn back Clovis High 7-2 Friday in a District 4-5A tennis dual played at the CHS courts.

In boys competition, the Eagles lost only 14 games all day in cruising to a 9-0 win. Both CHS teams are now 1-2 overall this spring in dual matches.

Patricia Gallegos and Andrea Curry posted singles wins for the Lady Wildcats. Gallegos beat Carrie Skinner 6-0, 6-3 at No. 1 while Curry scored a 6-1, 6-0 verdict over Asha ayagari at No. 2.

But Hobbs rallied from a game down to win matches at No. 6 singles, No. 1 doubles and No. 2 doubles, preventing the Lady Cats from taking the dual.

On the boys side, the Wildcats managed to win as many as three games in only three matches.

Clovis squads return to action on Tuesday with a 3 p.m. make-up district dual at Eldorado.
