Mr. J.B. “Mac” Quillin, 87, of Clovis, died Saturday, March 6, 2004, at his home.
He was born on Feb. 2, 1917, in Seymour, Texas, to Horace and Cora Edison Quillin.
He came to Clovis in 1940 to play semi-pro baseball for the Clovis Pioneers and then went to work for the railroad. He married Anna Marie Hawkins on March 19, 1944, in Clovis. He retired from the railroad in 1979. Family members said he enjoyed hunting, fishing and loved to watch baseball. He was a 32-degree Mason, was a member of the Elks Lodge and the United Transportation Union, where he was the local chairman from 1950 to 1966.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife.
Survivors include a son, Jim Quillin of Clovis; a daughter, Kollye Ann Walker (and husband, Houston) of Clovis: two grandchildren, Tasha Foster of Lubbock and Taryn Dedeaux of Clovis; a great-grandson, Myles DeBow; and numerous relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at Steed-Todd Funeral Home in Clovis.
He will lie in state Tuesday evening at Seymour Memorial Funeral Home in Seymour, Texas.
Burial will be at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Seymour.
