Texas Sen. Kel Seliger, District 31, will be the Republican candidate for his seat in the Nov. 2 general election.
He beat Kirk Edwards and other Republican candidates on Tuesday.
He will run against Democrat Elaine King Miller, who was previously defeated in an earlier election.
With 217 of 235 precincts reporting at 11:27 p.m. CST, Seliger had 40,931 votes. Edwards garnered 22,203.
Seliger in February was elected senator to fill the unexpired term of Teel Bivins.
