Stephen L. Febus, 63, of Fort Sumner, died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004, at his home.
He was born on Jan. 26, 1941, in Lancaster, Ohio, to Lowell R. and Geraldine Clora Witham Febus.
He was raised in Lancaster, Ohio where he attended and graduated from high school. He married Gay Nell McComas in 1961, in Columbus, Ohio. He served for 13 years in the U.S. Navy as a data processor aboard the air craft carrier, U.S.S. Randolph. Following his honorable discharge he worked as an automobile salesman in Ohio. They made their home at Roswell for two years before moving to Fort Sumner in 1996. He was a member of the D.A.V. and American Legion in Clovis. He attended the Fort Sumner Church of Christ. Family members said he loved horses and spending time on his computer.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant daughter, Alisha Gay Febus.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Stephen L. Febus II (and wife, Jennifer) and Jeffrey L. Febus (Diane), all of Delaware, Ohio; a sister, Molly E. Febus of Columbus, Ohio; and five grandchildren, Aleashia, Justin, Morgan, Jeffrey “J.T.” Tyler and Madison Febus, all of Delaware, Ohio.
Cremation has taken place.
Services will be held at a later date in Lancaster, Ohio.
Arrangements are by Chavez Funeral Home of Fort Sumner.
