Clovis police are searching for suspects involved in an early Sunday drive-by shooting that injured one man, Lt. Patrick Whitney of the Clovis Police Department said.
The shooting occurred in the Prince Lounge parking lot at 701 N. Prince. Whitney did not identify the victim.
The victim was flown by helicopter to a hospital in Lubbock, Whitney said.
Prince Lounge owner Kit Pettigrew said the incident occurred about 2 a.m. and he called an ambulance for the victim.
“It was a gang deal,” Pettigrew said. “I was there. It was a gang thing that happened outside the bar at closing time.”
Pettigrew said he was upset that people talk about whiskey being a problem when people are “either stealing, doing drugs or stealing for drugs.”
“All they can do is talk about the whiskey,” he said. “Whiskey’s been around for a thousand years.”
Witnesses told Pettigrew the gangs were in a dispute, he said.
