Willis Dean “Andy” Anderson, 73, of Mesa, Ariz., died Monday, Feb. 2, 2004.
He was born on Nov. 19, 1930, in Clovis. At the age of 15 he enlisted in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He served in Korea as a highly decorated Master Sergeant and lost a leg while with the 2nd Inf. Div. 23.
He was a resident of Arizona for 37 years. Family members said he was an avid fisherman and enjoyed working with his Korean War Division and Regiment Associations helping to locate other Korean War Veterans.
Survivors include his children, Clyde Anderson of Waco, Texas, Jeanie Ames of Colorado Springs, Colo., Wes Anderson of Mesa, Les Anderson of Wilmington, Del., and Cindy Anderson Reitmeyer of Gilbert, Ariz.; two brothers, Bud Anderson of Lubbock and Jay Cox of Mesa; grandchildren, Lional Balcome, Cassandra Balcome, Jennifer Ames Richardson, Sephanie Reitmeyer, Alexis Reitmeyer, Jordan Anderson and Blythe Anderson; great-grandchildren, Donnie Balcome, Sabrina Balcome, Tyler Ames, Phoebe and Seth Gerrard, Kyle Ames and Titus Ames; a cousin, Beonnie Iker of Snowflake, Ariz.; and several other relatives.
Visitation is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at Bunker Funeral Home in Mesa.
