L. Eugene Pearson, 75, of Clovis died Saturday Jan. 17, 2004, at Roosevelt General Hospital in Portales.
He was born Jan. 19, 1928, in rural Osage County, Kan., to Fred and Ora Brown Pearson. He graduated from the eighth grade at the Pant Teg Country School and in 1946 he graduated from Osage City High School.
After several years of working he graduated from Newman Hospital School of Nursing at Emporia, Kan., and St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nurse Anesthetist in Duluth, Minn. He was employed in Minnesota, New Mexico, California, and Kansas. He retired from anesthetist work in 1983.
For several years after, he worked as a staff nurse at the Topeka State Hospital and at a nursing home until he retired in 1992. He married Lela Owen in Emporia on July 7, 1956. He married Emily Chavez in Osage City, Kan., on Nov. 24, 1987. He was of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include his wife Emily Pearson of the home; three children, son Leslie Pearson and daughter Janell Pearson, both of Seattle, Wash., and son Lawrence Pearson of Mountainview, Calif.; a sister, Eileen Lindbloom of Osage City; and two grandchildren, Alice and Jeffry Pearson of Mountainview.
He was preceded in death by his first wife in 1985, his parents and a brother, Earl Pearson.
Cremation will take place.
