Super Bowl a time for family, friends

Project: Reader Reaction

A recent Project: Reader Reaction question asked for examples of the ideal Super Bowl party. Some responses:

“I WOULD LIKE TO spend the Super Bowl with my parents and son. I have never really had a Super Bowl party, but I have spent the day with family and friends rooting for my favorite team to win. We usually have sandwiches, chips and dip, nachos, iced tea and maybe some cookies (if I get them made). I can have just as much fun drinking iced tea as some people have drinking beer. I don’t end up having an upset stomach and headache afterward like some people I know.”
— Ardyth Elms, Clovis

“SHORT AND SWEET, THAT would be my team playing in the big game.”
— Steve Deleon, Clovis

“MY IDEA OF A PERFECT Super Bowl party would be the Minnesota Vikings against whomever with the Vikings being the victors.”
— Michael Williams, Clovis
“THE IDEAL PARTY WOULD be to have all my friends over, have an unlimited supply of heavy hors d’oeuvres, lots of chips and homemade salsa, and plenty of your favorite drinks to wash it down with. Of course a football pool would be needed too, just to make it a little more interesting.”
— Bob Baker, Clovis
“THE PERFECT SUPER BOWL party would consist of several good friends, good food and a GOOD GAME for a change.”
— Jeff Greene, Clovis

“THE PERFECT SUPER BOWL party? A cold, overcast January day; a fire in the fireplace; lots of high-fat, high-sodium snacks on the table (especially chile con queso made with Velveeta and Ro-Tel chiles); lots of diet Coke and a bunch of friends who have put their adult beverage drinking days behind them. … And the Packers as one of the teams if you can’t have the Redskins.”
— Brent McBee, Clovis

“GOOD FOOD AND POTABLES with good friends.”
— Harold Burris, Clovis

“FRIENDS AND FAMILY TOGETHER, big screen TV, lots of food and neighbors that love the game. (Don’t want them to call the law on you.)”
— Maria Cheverez, Clovis

“SUPER BOWL SHOULD BE with friends, family and lots of food.”
— Mearl Thomas, Clovis

“MY IDEA OF A PERFECT Super Bowl party is for the Cowboys to play in it and win!”
— John Frey, Clovis

“SITTING IN FRONT OF A FIRE, drinking a cool beverage with friends and family and enjoying the company.”
— Jim Sitterly, Clovis

“EVERY YEAR I WATCH the Super Bowl with my father. We always go for opposite teams to make things more interesting. I love to yell at the TV when the players do something stupid. I get very excited. This is my ideal Super Bowl party.”
— Amy Graves, Clovis

“MY IDEAL SUPER BOWL party would be a ‘Sex In The City’ or ‘Six Feet Under’ viewing marathon with a dozen or so spirited friends.”
