Gertrude Shipp, 100, of Farwell, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003, at Plains Regional Medical in Clovis.
She was born on March 17, 1903, in the Lubbock area.
She married Bart Moore in 1918 in Lubbock. She later married H.A. Shipp in 1955, in Portales. She farmed in the Floyd community from 1918 until 1948. She moved to Andrews, Texas, and then to Clovis in 1995. She also worked as a purchaser for Dunlaps Department Store. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Farwell and a volunteer for the Womens Hospital Auxiliary in Andrews. Family members said she loved to crochet, read and go fishing.
She was preceded in death by her two husbands; two children, Edith McCleskey and Pete Moore; her parents; two sisters; and a brother.
Survivors include a grandson, Richard McCleskey (and wife, Rita) of Anderson, Nev.; two granddaughters, Rebecca “Becky” Moore of Kansas City, Mo., and Debbie Basinger of Farmington; five great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Randy Mullin will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Floyd Cemetery.
