Mrs. Imogene Taylor, 99, died Friday, Dec. 19, 2003, at Heartland Continuing Care Center in Portales.
She was born April 26, 1904, in Gail, Texas, to Lula and Charlie Benjamin Morrison.
The oldest of six children, she was baptized in the Church of Christ at an early age and was a faithful member all of her life.
She married Fred Taylor on Nov. 22, 1924, in Gail, and they moved to Dora.
Mrs. Taylor lived in and around Portales the rest of her life.
A family member said she was a very social person, loving to entertain and be involved in activities. She was active in Homemakers Clubs and quilting clubs, etc., for as long as her health would permit.
Mrs. Taylor was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Dick Cathey Morrison and Charlie Benjamin Morrison Jr.; three sisters, Fronie Morrison, Madeline Askew and Josephine Matthews; a son, Otwell Cathey Taylor; a daughter, Emma Nell Clem; a son-in-law, Robert Clem; a daughter-in-law, Sunny Jo Taylor; and by her husband, who died March 11, 1977.
Survivors include a son, Charlie Taylor of Portales; six grandchildren, Cathey Weaks, Karen Dickens, Rhea Marrs, Timothy Taylor, Crystal Isaacks, and Joel Taylor; 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Stanley Newton and Kenneth Rhoades will officiate at the service. Burial will be in Portales Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Elmer Jones, Joel Moore, David Baker, Matt Rush, Ernie Marshall and Leslie Rector.
All of her many friends are honorary pallbearers.
