Levi “Red” Joiner, 74, of Clovis died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003, at Laurel Ridge Healthcare in Clovis.
He was born on June 1, 1929, in Portales, to Levi Floyd and Jewel Elizabeth Sanders Joiner.
He was raised in Fort Sumner. He went into the Air Force in 1948. After discharge from the Air Force he moved to Amarillo and then to Clovis in 1961. He worked as a auto mechanic in different auto shops in Clovis. He was an active member of the VFW and the Republican Party. Family members said he loved crossword puzzles and watching the news. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Robert Joiner; and a sister, Christena Shirley.
Survivors include two sons, Mel Mehrten of Everett, Wash., and Kevin Mehrten of Alexander, Va.; a daughter, Julie Medina of Clovis; two sisters, Alene Martin of Clovis and Virginia Knepp of Canyon, Texas; a brother, Kenneth Joiner of Grapevine, Texas; and nine grandchildren.
Burial was at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
Meredith Knepp will officiate the services.
Arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home of Clovis.
