Mrs. Ruby Joyce Bell Wilson, 76, of Portales, died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2003, at her home.
She was born on May 6, 1927, in Santa Anna, Texas, to Cora Lee and Conrad T. Bell.
She was raised in the Rogers community where she attended school. She attended Beauty School in Clovis and became one of the instructors. She later opened Kountry Kurl Beauty Shop in Portales. She retired in the mid 1970s, but volunteered to do hair for the ladies at the local rest home. She was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church. Family members said she was an accomplished seamstress and painted on fabric, producing many unique items. She enjoyed crocheting, crafts of various types and antique collecting.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Wilburn Bell; a sister, June Ivy Willis; a daughter, Jerrita Ann Wilson; and her husband, Jerry Wilson.
Survivors include a son, Mickey Lee Wilson (and wife, Anna) of Portales; a daughter, Sharon Tinsley (Earl) of Portales; a step-daughter, Nita Marie Buris (Larry) of Dallas; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Tommy Lee Bell of Arkansas; and two sisters, Margaret Irene Willis of Portales and Patsy Dawn Fletcher of Amarillo.
Scott P. Reeves will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Portales Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mark and Bart Tinlsey, Brad, Larry and Kelly Goodrum and Kevin Seawright.
Arrangements are by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales.
