Edward “Ed” Wylie Fite Jr., 80, of Clovis, owner of the Book Exchange, died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2003, in Clovis.
He was born on Dec. 13, 1922, in Grimshaw, Texas, to Ed Sr. and Myrtle Lee Fite.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran. He married Cassie Booher on May 3, 1941, in Las Cruces. He and his wife owned and operated the Book Exchange until his retirement. Family members said he enjoyed woodworking. He was of the Methodist faith.
The family will receive friends at 163 Sandzen.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Elmer Fite; and a son-in-law, Chuck Patterson.
Survivors include his wife; a sister, Minnie Kate Forrest of Georgetown, Texas; children, Dale Fite (and wife, Annie), Dennis Fite, Vivian Strebeck (Charlie), all of Clovis, and LaRue Prull (Dale) of Phoenix; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Brad Reeves will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis.
Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons.
Arrangements are under the direction of Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis.
