Clovis senior middle hitter Monique Walker was selected to the Class 5A all-state volleyball team.
Two other Lady Wildcats were honored in the vote by Class 5A coaches. Senior outside Jessica Hohn earned second team honors and senior setter Tara Ray gained honorable mention.
Two-time defending state champion Rio Rancho had five players selected to the first nine-member first team, including player of the year Cassie Koranyi, an outside hitter.
Toby Manzanares of Rio Rancho was named coach of the year.
Walker, the 2003 District 4-5A Player of the Year, helped Clovis to a school-record 18 wins this season, averaging a team-high 5.8 kills and 3.5 blocks a game. She was second-team all-state last year.
A strong leaper, the 5-foot, 9-inch Walker is being recruited as an outside hitter, according to Clovis coach Darrel Ray. She is expected to make official visits to New Mexico and South Carolina State.
Walker is also a track standout in track and plays basketball for the Lady Wildcats.
The 5-10 Hohn averaged 4.3 kills and 1.4 blocks while Ray dished out 8.6 assists per game.
Hohn and Ray were first-team, all-district picks.
