Club Notes for Week of 10/19

BPO DOES
Clovis Drove No. 108 held a regular meeting on Oct. 9 with President Kaye Parrish presiding.
The charter was draped in memory of long-time member Marie Reichenborn who recently died. The drove voted to donate $20 to the Pikes Peak Hospice in her memory.
Parrish will be representing the drove at the upcoming Girls State Banquet to be held at the American Legion on Monday. The drove makes an annual contribution each year to Girls State for assistance in expenses.
The drove voted to donate $200 to the local United Way Fund and $200 to the War Veteran’s Memorial plaque to be displayed at the Clovis library.
A nominating committee was elected consisting of Bea Newman, Pat Lovelace, JoAnn Thomas, Jean Hayes, and Gwen Williams. It will be the responsibility of this committee to compile a slate of officers for 2004 and to present the names to the drove at the November meeting.
The next regular meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday at the Elks Lodge. The club will have initiation of new members.

Fairfield Extension Club
The Fairfield Extension Club met on Oct. 10 with 11 members present. Betty Ingram and Ruby Jones were hostesses. The nominating committee reported a list of nominees for officers. The slate was approved and new officers will be installed at the November meeting. The new officers are Martha Watkins, president, Jean Hardin, vice president, Ruby Jones, secretary, Mary Winkles, treasurer and Martha Brister, reporter.
The program was on home fire safety given by Karen Burns.
The next meeting will be Friday at the Extension Building with Martha Watkins, Marlene Essex and Jo Priest as hostesses. Annual dues need to be paid at this time.
Future crafts were discussed for the next meeting.

Pilot Club of Clovis
The Pilot Club of Clovis met on Oct. 13.
The annual fund-raiser nuts have been ordered. Pecans are $6 per pound and cashews and mixed nuts are $6.50 per pound.
Susie Hatley was named sweetheart of the year for the club.
Members will hold a garage sale at 7 a.m. on Nov. 1 at 181 Sandzen.
Club members discussed the upcoming Christmas party with $10 gift cards given to a local organization. The next meeting will be at the China Buffet on Oct. 27.

Grady Alpha Club
The Grady Alpha Club met on Oct. 7 with 12 members present. Katy MacKechnie called the meeting to order. Roll call was answered with a favorite Halloween candy.
The minutes were read and approved and the treasurer’s report was given.
A trip to Amarillo was discussed and scheduled for Nov. 14. Those interested in going can meet at the senior citizen’s building at 7 a.m. to car pool to Amarillo. Lunch will be at Marty’s.
The next leader training is at 1:30 p.m. Nov. 16 at the county office.

Pintores Art League
October is a special month for the members of the Pintores Art League. This is the month the club chooses a central theme or subject and each of the members is invited to submit a painting or paintings along these lines for display at the Clovis Carver Public Library.
This year the chosen theme is floral paintings.
Paintings are on display at the library during October.
Artists are invited to hang their works and they will be available for viewing until Oct. 31.
