Mrs. Amanda von Colln, 98, of Clovis, died Thursday, July 17, 2003, in Clovis.
She was born July 26, 1904 in Brake, Germany, to Heinrich and Martha Ihmels.
She arrived in America in October of 1928. She married Gerhard von Colln on Nov. 29, 1929, in Sterling, Ill. They owned a grocery store in Manhattan, N.Y. and later changed careers to become an office supervisor for Commercial Union Insurance Co. in New York City. They retired in Miami. They returned to Gouverneur, N.Y., for many years. She moved to Clovis in 1997.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; three sisters, Hilda Hess, Marie Martin and Magaretha Ihmels; and a brother, Heinerich Ihmels.
She is survived by a son, Harold von Colln (and wife, Cora) of Clovis; four grandchildren, Kathryn Elliott (Bryan) of Clovis, William von Colln of Boston, Margaret Soluri (and husband, Ralph) of Champlain, N.Y., and Debra von Colln of New York; and six great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Tom Wilson will officiate the services.
Burial will be held at a later date at East Riverside Cemetery in Gouverneur, N.Y.
Pallbearers will be Bryan, Adam and Scott Elliott and Al McNamara.
Honorary bearers will be Matthew and Nicholas Elliott.
