Mr. Edward L. “Eddie” Goins of Carlsbad, a truck driver, died Saturday, June 28, 2003, at Carlsbad Medical Center.
He was born on May 19, 1956, in Carlsbad, to Kenneth and Pearl Goins.
He was raised in Carlsbad and graduated from Carlsbad Senior High in 1974. He participated in several different sports during his high school years, lettering in football and receiving a trophy for special teams. After high school, he began working at Albertson’s and worked his way up to manager of the produce department. He later transferred as produce manager to Albertson’s in Clovis where he continued to work for two years. He also managed Big O Tires in Clovis for several years. He started driving a truck and established Goins Transportation, which he operated until his death.
He is survived by a son, Cody Goins of Seattle, Wash.; his parents; a sister, Edith Jackson (and husband, Floyd) of Kingsland, Texas; two brothers, Ronnie Goins of Carlsbad and Kenny Goins (and wife, Nancy) of Clovis; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Hoss Belk will officiate the services.
Arrangements are by West Funeral Home of Carlsbad.
