ROSWELL — Monique Walker and the Clovis Lady Wildcats made it two-for-two in tournaments.
Walker collected 16 kills and nine blocks and Jessica Hohn added 11 kills as Clovis toasted Hot Springs 25-19, 25-9, 25-20 on Saturday in the championship match of the Zia Classic.
Walker was named the tournament’s most valuable player, same as when she led Clovis to the title in its own tournament last month. Hohn and setter Tara Ray joined Walker on the all-tournament team.
“The competition wasn’t as strong as Clovis, but it was a good tournament,” Clovis coach Darrel Ray said. “We came in here with a bulls-eye on our back and we responded by playing pretty well.”
The Lady Wildcats (9-0) beat Portales 25-19, 25-21, 25-21 earlier Saturday in the semifinals.
Walker led the way with 11 kills and nine blocks and Aimee Hilburn added 12 kills.
