Mrs. Toynette Stockard, 87, of Portales, died Friday, June 13, 2003, in Dallas.
She was born on Aug. 14, 1915, in Brookline, Greene County, Mo., to Maude and William Batson.
She married Harold Stockard on Aug. 27, 1933. Early in their marriage they visited one of Harold’s uncles on a farm in Portales. She was a member of the local congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Family members said she loved nature and scenery, especially sunsets and clouds.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Everett and Herman Batson; a sister, Olive Stockard; a son, Jimmie Dale Stockard; three grandchildren; and her husband, Harold.
She is survived by two sons, Marvin “Sonny” Stockard of Big Spring, Texas, and Vern Stockard of Portales; four daughters, Evelyn Isbell (and husband, Wayne) of Dallas, Henrietta Simcik (and husband, Tom) of Denver, Patsy Hisey (and husband, Randy) of Albuquerque and Rhonda Garcia (and husband, Ramon) of Portales; 20 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
