Cecilia Chavez, 51, of Roswell died Thursday, June 5, 2003, at University Medical Center in Lubbock.
She was born Jan. 15, 1952, in Vaughn, to Antonio and Helen Garcia.
She was raised and attended school in Encino. She made her home at Vaughn, and Odessa, Texas, before moving to Roswell in 1987. She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Roswell. She was a homemaker. Family members said she was a loving mother, daughter, grandmother and sister.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Louise Sisneros, in 1980; and a brother, Manuel Garcia, in 1964.
Survivors include four sons, Manuel Sisneros (and wife, Angie), Chris Chavez and Marc Chavez, all of Roswell, and Daniel Chavez of Dallas; a daughter, Jennifer Chavez of Roswell; her parents, Antonio and Helen Garcia of Vaughn; three sisters, Irene Sanchez (and husband, Johnny) Berlinda Garcia, all of Vaughn, and Diana Garcia of Portales; two brothers, Anthony Garcia (and wife, Sandra) of Santa Fe, and Patricio Garcia (and wife, Amy) of Portales; and four grandchildren, Stevie Sisneros, Kayla Sisneros, Joseph “Nick” Gonzales and Adrian Castillo.
Dolores Sanchez will lead the prayers.
Father John Jasinski will officiate the services.
Burial will follow at Encino Catholic Cemetery in Encino.
Chavez Funeral Home of Fort Sumner is handling arrangements.
