Mr. William Ketcham, 89, of Portales, died Thursday, Aug. 7, 2003, at his home.
He was born on Aug. 9, 1913, in Tioga, Colo., to Ellen and Nicholas Ketcham.
He married Velma Kindt on June 11, 1939, in Westcliff, Colo. He spent most of his life in Huerfano County, Colo. where he worked on the family farm and ranch. During the Great Depression he worked for the Work Placement Association. He moved to Portales in 1975 and worked for C.H. and Eldon Hays until he was 74. He retired and moved to the country where he spent the last 16 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a stepfather; a brother; a sister; a daughter, Rhonda; and two sons, Bill and Ronnie.
He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Janice Self (and husband, Jack) of Portales, Helena Brinkley (Blas) of Andrews, Texas and Marlene Peddicord (Terry) of Big Lake, Texas; a son, Charlie Ketcham (Perlina) of Alamosa, Colo.; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; three sisters; and two brothers.
