Mr. Alvin Theodore Romero, 43, a rancher, died Wednesday, April 30, 2003, in Garita.
He was born May 11, 1959, in Las Vegas, N.M. He grew up in Trujillo and attended Robertson High School in Las Vegas.
He had ranched for 25 years at the Hage and Webb Land and Cattle Company in Garita.
He was a member of the New Mexico Cattle Growers Association and the U.S. Team Roping Championships, where he was an avid competitor. He was a member of the Center Street United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Angel Romero; his mother, Sara Romero; two brothers, Lee and Herman Romero; his grandmother, Franciel Hage; and his father-in-law, Olan Webb.
He is survived by his wife Missie; six children; Maranda, Christina, Julianna, Sara, Olana and Alvin Chance, all of Tucumcari and Garita; his father, Pete Romero of Trujillo; six brothers; Dan Romero of Trujillo, Fred (and companion, Pam) Romero and Nick (and wife, Corrine) Romero, all of Las Vegas; Jerry (and wife, Penny) of Dalhart, Texas; Richard Romero of Springtown, Texas; and Louis Romero of Garden City, Kan.; two sisters, Irene (and husband, Miguel) Martinez of Las Vegas, and Sarah (and husband, Diego) Quintana of Pecos; three sisters-in-law, Dee Romero of Denver, Colo., Mary Lou Romero of Hereford, Texas, Laura (and husband Arlan) McKinney of Hartly, Texas; his mother-in-law, Carol Webb of Garita; a brother-in-law, Larry (and wife, Jennifer) Webb of New Kirk; and many nieces and nephews.
Burial took place in the Hage-Webb Cemetery in Garita.
Arrangements were by Dunn Funeral Home of Tucumcari.
